Aswan is in the south of Egypt’s Arab Republic, is the title of civilization in Egypt throughout its long history, and the gateway to Africa.
Aswan was known as “Sono” in the ancient Egyptians’ times, meaning the market, as it was a commercial center for caravans coming to and from Nubia.
On the eastern shore of the Nile, Aswan is bordered to the north by Luxor Governorate, to the east by the Red Sea Governorate, west by the New Valley Governorate, and the south by Sudan 22nd latitude north of the Tropic of Cancer.
Aswan city rises about 85 meters above sea level, it is 879 km away from Cairo, and the governorate area is 34,608 km2. It also includes the city of Abu Simbel and the Nubian villages of “Al-Tajjar,” as well as Lake Nasser, including the Toshka flood project.
Aswan is one of God’s loved sites with the Nile River’s beauty with beautiful blue color and granite rocks in the water, yellow sand on the riverbank, Nubia villages connected overlooking the Nile.
The serenity and beauty of Aswan are unsurpassed, as on the banks of the Nile in Aswan lies nature, magic, and beauty that distinguishes the place.
