The citadel overlooks Alexandria’s eastern harbor and contains ruins from the all-famous Pharos or lighthouse of Alexandria, a former wonder of the world.

Today we proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel, the island of Pharos was a significant port having two huge harbors. The fort was built in the 1480s by the Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay, constructed in the same place over the remains of the legendary Alexandria's ancient Pharos Lighthouse. These Egypt's critical defensive strongholds were once one of the ancient world's wonders.
Qaitbay Fort legend has it that the prominent landmark stood an incredible 135 meters high. Imagine that the donkeys had to go up and down the double spiral staircase carrying day and night loads of wood to fuel the lighthouse's lantern!
A final stop at the cream-colored Abu-El-Abbas Mosque's outer view stands 23 m high and dressed in artificial stone, with a minaret on the southern side rising to 73 m.
Finally, our driver will return you to your hotel in Alexandria.

Yes, this tour visits Qaitbay Citadel Alexandria. However, some clients wish to book this tour, especially from the Alexandria Port (against charge), for all requested permission to meet the clients upon descending from the ship (representatives/drivers/guides, etc.), indicating booking to pick them up earlier and arrange the cruise timings directly.
